Charlie Parton * produziu para o novíssimo Council on Geostrategy um muito interessante e muito importante relatório sobre o que o PC chinês quer do Reino Unido e o que quer que o Reino Unido seja. Seria (não é por acaso que uso o condicional...) muito oportuno se houvesse (também aqui o tempo do verbo não é ocasional...) quem tivesse (idem para o tempo do verbo...) a arte e o engenho (e o tempo, claro) de produzir um “Que Quer o Partido Comunista Chinês de Portugal?”

* Charlie Parton spent 22 years of his 37-year diplomatic career working in or on China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In his final posting he was seconded to the European Union’s Delegation in Beijing, where, as First Counsellor until late 2016, he focussed on Chinese politics and internal developments, and advised the European Union and its Member States on how China’s politics might affect their interests. In 2017, he was chosen as the Foreign Affairs Select Committee’s Special Adviser on China; he returned to Beijing for four months as Adviser to the British Embassy to cover the Communist Party’s 19th Congress. He is a trustee of ‘Chinadialogue’, a non-governmental organisation which focuses on China’s environmental issues.
